Reminders

Hi families,

A few reminders - 

~ we will be going outside for class recess daily, even in inclement weather. Please help your child to dress properly. Additionally, please have your child bring (or better yet, leave here) a pair of INDOOR shoes. No one likes to clomp around in boots all day.

~ With flu season here, we are hand washing and cleaning like crazy. Any donations of DISINFECTANT WIPES, TISSUES, AND COUGH DROPS are appreciated!

~ Field trip with PE teachers to Westview Meadows will be Monday, November 25. I am still waiting for a few permission slips.

~ We have 4 Winds today.

~ There will be no school next Wed-Fri. Happy Thanksgiving!

Harrison Woods!

Visit from Norwich University students!

We had 10 Norwich students come to do some Science experiments with us yesterday. One group made windmills to demonstrate wind energy and the second group made edible landfills (hello chocolate mud!). A few of the NU students also measured the noise levels in our classroom to demonstrate noise pollution.

We had Erin from VEEP in today giving another presentation on energy. We used fans, lights, magnets, solar panels, etc.

We have Bird Banding this Friday, October 18 at the North Branch Nature Center. We will plan to leave UES at 8:30 and return by 11:30. The folks who have offered to drive are  -

Coop trip!

Families,

As a kick off to our Resource Conservation and Sustainability work (it's in our Science curriculum but since it is a personal passion of mine, I go above and beyond), I plan to take the class to the Hunger Mtn Coop on Monday, October 7. They do a fantastic tour for us, with lessons, local foods discussion and even a goody bag! Parents can join us. We will leave UES at 9:00 and return by 11:30.
